Kathmandu. It has been revealed that the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has influenced the regulator by donating money on the condition that it does not take action against its auditors. It has been found that the central bank is trying to protect its auditors by donating to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal in the name of programme. <\/p>\n
Questions have been raised about institutional transparency and ethics after it was reported that banks had made financial contributions (donations) to the regulatory body in the name of program support to avoid action against their auditors. <\/p>\n
Although the bank appears to have supported a program related to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal, its real purpose is to influence the regulatory body. <\/p>\n
According to sources, the help may have been used to prevent or soften possible disciplinary action against the auditor. <\/p>\n
At the center of the controversy is the role of the auditors associated with the bank. There have already been allegations that these auditors did not take enough measures to check the bank’s financial statements. <\/p>\n
