KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has taken action against Kumari Bank Limited and Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB) for violating regulatory provisions. In the third quarter supervision report of the fiscal year 2080\/81 released by the Department of Bank Observation, it is stated that action was taken against the officials concerned pointing out various weaknesses of both the banks. <\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Kumari Bank has not complied with the provisions related to credit risk classification, risk weight determination and Capital Adequacy Framework, 2015. In addition, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has stated that the interest subsidy has been given against the procedure related to the interest subvention of concessional loans. <\/p>\n<p>According to the NRB, the bank had decided to pay Rs 20.3 million in remuneration and facilities even after 13 months of not performing the work agreement with the then CEO. The report states that the amount has not been recovered so far despite being directed to recover the amount. <\/p>\n<p>Based on these shortcomings, Nepal Rastra Bank has warned the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Kumari Bank. It has also directed the Board of Directors to recover the irregularly paid amount. <\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Nepal Investment Mega Bank (NIMB) has confirmed the letter of credit opened from the Kamaladi branch and issued a promissory note on the basis of that and purchased bills worth about Rs 47.36 crore from the beneficiary and showed it as a loan. <\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the maturity date of the letter of recommendation was extended repeatedly and the loan was continuously maintained as an &#8216;Evergreen Loan&#8217; till the end of Chaitra 2081. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has cautioned the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NIMB for violating the directives by showing the loan as a good loan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
