Kathmandu. Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed that the government should address the problems of microfinance, cooperatives and meter interest victims. <\/p>\n
Bhandari had reached the National Human Rights Commission office in Pulchowk of Lalitpur on Tuesday to meet the financial victims who were staging a sit-in and drew the attention of the government towards the health condition of the agitating women. <\/p>\n
He said that he has taken information about the demands of the victims and the government should be serious and find ways to resolve the issue. Recalling the agreements made by the interim government to resolve the problems of the victims, Bhandari suggested that the incumbent government should seek a long-term solution to the problems on the basis of those agreements. <\/p>\n
Talking to the survivors at the sit-in site, former President Bhandari said, “I have come here to take stock of the health condition of many mothers, sisters and children who have been agitating for the past few days and to draw the attention of the concerned side.” I wish that by solving this problem from the root, the health of the sisters should not be adversely affected and they do not have to suffer again. \u2019<\/p>\n
Bhandari also expressed solidarity with the movement going on for social justice. During the meeting, the agitating victims shared their problems and sufferings. Speaking on behalf of the victims, one of the participants said that they have been staging sit-in for the past four days and some of the victims had come to Kathmandu after a 19-day trek from Inaruwa of Sunsari. <\/p>\n
They urged the former president to arrange mobile toilets and safe shelter for the time being.
