A person has been found to have been cheated of Rs 93,000 on the pretext of updating the bank’s system.

Through social media, a person took about Rs 93,000 from an account in the name of Sandesh Katuwal. He said that Rs 93,000 was cheated.

At around 5:30 pm, when the information about the ‘system update’ was received on the mobile, it was asked to enter details such as mobile banking ID, password, mobile number and transaction PIN. The person complained that the mobile did not work for about 15 minutes after entering the details and the money in the bank account disappeared after the mobile was opened.

In order to avoid such incidents, the general public has been requested to avoid providing banking details, password, OTP and transaction PIN on the link or app and to use the service only through official banking channels.

Some people on social media have also reacted to this incident.

One person complained, “In this way, the mobile comes to update the bank’s app and after clicking on Update, your mobile switches off and the system shows updating, the mobile will be turned on in about 10-15 minutes, but by then the money has disappeared from the updated mobile banking without OPT, now when you inquire in the bank, we inform the owner of the mobile banking, PhonePe, you should apply and also suggest to apply to the Cyber Bureau.” After you apply, the bank gives all the information to PhonePe. PhonePe says that we will inform everyone after understanding everything, but there is no answer, only we have informed the Cyber Bureau. ‘

The person further said, “Then when you go to the Cyber Bureau, you get the answer that we are looking for the concerned person, we will inform you after receiving it, but ironically, even after 2-3 months of missing money from mobile banking, there is no reply or refund of the money. So it is clear from this that the bank is giving us various inducements and schemes to deposit money in your bank, you will invest the money you have deposited with us and earn a lot of money? But what kind of rule is this that if you steal our money from the bank by an unknown person, then you are not responsible for it? If an unknown person steals money in the banks of other countries, then the bank is responsible and the lost money comes to the account but does not come to our country. Now it does not matter if you understand that the main reason for the theft of money by hacking the mobile bank in this way was the collusion of the bank employees. ‘

Kathmandu.
