Do you use Khalti by IME? If you do, you may have noticed a lot of problems with this digital wallet in the last few days. Khalti used to be the best operating wallet and was considered to be a popular wallet among customers. However, after some time IME bought Khalti and made Khalti by IME, there have been problems in the wallet.
Problems such as not showing the details of the transaction, not trying to buy the ticket, not getting the payment, not getting the payment even though the payment has been made have started to appear in IME Pay. When the two wallets were merging at a time when eSewa was facing problems, many expected Khalti to become the No. 1 wallet. But after the merger, the problem has increased continuously, it is said that now there is a possibility of becoming Khalti Bye IME instead of Khalti by IME.
The bigger the organization, the greater the responsibility. Analysts say that due to lack of understanding of this responsibility, there is a problem in the pocket after the purchase of IME. According to experts, there are two main reasons for the current problem in Khalti—
1. Not having a dedicated team working in Pocket like before, and
2. There is a technical error while merging the data of two wallets.
It is said that the problem has been exacerbated by the increase in the load on the system when many users use the wallet at the same time and do not take precautions.
Employees of Khalti by IME have also admitted that they have faced problems with wallets time and again. Talking to the banking world, they said that after the merger, they have seen various problems and dozens of complaints are received every day.
Khalti user data leaked, not safe Khalti by IME!
It has been revealed that the personal details of users have been stolen while Khalti by IME is constantly facing problems. Even before the merger with Khalti, it has been revealed that some employees of the company had sold personal documents and details of customers to criminal gangs.
According to the preliminary investigation by Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Khalti employees have been selling the confidential details of their customers to hacker groups in the greed of commission. It is also alleged that some of the details were given to the employees of eSewa.
According to the police, during the KYC verification, some employees of Khalti had downloaded the citizenship copy, photo and other documents uploaded by the customer and provided them to the hackers. These documents have been used to open fake bank accounts and carry out illegal transactions.
This means that if you have uploaded KYC using Khalti, a fake bank account in your name can lead to millions in illegal transactions — which could end up in handcuffs.
According to the police, the details downloaded by the Khalti employees were being used to get SIM cards and open bank accounts.
Three employees of Khalti Wallet have been arrested in connection with the incident. According to the police, these employees were working in the KYC verification department of the company and provided the details uploaded by the service recipients to the criminal group. Investigations are underway and a search has been intensified for the other suspects, police said.
Rastra Bank Silence
Despite such a serious incident, Nepal Rastra Bank has not taken any concrete action against Khalti so far. Despite the initial warning, the employees of Khalti claim that the action was stopped after IME purchased Khalti.
The central bank, regulatory bodies and customers themselves should be aware of this issue.
