Kathmandu. Victims of microfinance are protesting at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu. The microfinance victims have been protesting at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu, demanding that their demands be addressed.
The victims have complained that they have been suffering economic, social and mental agony under the open sky with the help of umbrellas and tents.
For a long time, they have been raising their voice against the loans taken from microfinance institutions, high interest rates, pressure to extort money and the alleged injustice done to them.
However, they allege that there has been no effective initiative from the state side despite drawing attention time and again.
Meanwhile, the talks team formed by the Ministry of Finance and the Microfinance Victims’ Struggle Committee are to hold talks again today. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle had formed a committee to hold talks with the agitating microfinance victims. Issuing a ministerial decision on Thursday, he formed a talk team under the convenorship of Joint Secretary Mahesh Acharya at the Ministry of Finance.
