‘Depositing money in the bank is not a sign of prosperity’

Kathmandu. Bidushi Rana, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has said that deposits in banks and financial institutions have reached around Rs 78.89 trillion. She said this while speaking in the House of Representatives on May 6.

She said that depositing money in the bank is not the only sign of prosperity. Stating that deposits in banks and financial institutions have reached around Rs 78.89 trillion, she said it was a serious matter that more than Rs 1000 billion worth of investable money was deposited in the banks despite the low interest rate.

In the first nine months of the current fiscal year, the loan growth rate was only 5.7 percent, while the savings account was more than Rs 60 million, while the loan amount was only Rs 2 million.
