Employees’ unions draw attention to increasing work pressure in banking sector

Kathmandu. Seven major bank employees’ unions have expressed serious concern over the increasing work pressure, unsafe working environment, labour rights, mental health and suicides of bank employees.

A joint statement issued after the suicide of an employee of Global IME Bank, Pitambar Khadka, termed the incident as an indication of systemic problems in the banking sector.

Unions say employees are being affected by excessive mental pressure, a lack of work-life balance and harassment and intimidation from external pressure groups. See also:{
