‘Small and Cottage Entrepreneurs Need Financial Literacy’ – NRB

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has stated that financial literacy is essential for business success. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged the household, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs to emphasize on financial knowledge, skills and discipline.

According to the NRB, the selection of appropriate business plan and financial services, use of separate accounts for business and personal transactions, systematic accounting of income and expenditure and assets, cash flow management and long-term financial planning are necessary while operating a business.

In addition, the entrepreneurs should identify the risks related to their business and adopt measures such as risk diversification, insurance and financial security. According to the NRB, continuous information about market conditions, competition, regulation, customer rights, available official information and financial advice will help to sustain the business.

Financial literacy and capacity building should be prioritized as capable entrepreneurs would make significant contribution to sustainable job creation, innovation and income expansion. See also:
