Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Financial Institutions Employees Association, National Committee has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property due to the sudden and devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district.
Likewise, the floods have affected the employees of banks, insurance and other financial institutions and their family members, as well as damaged offices, physical infrastructures and property of the financial institutions. The association has appealed to the employees to give first priority to the safety of themselves and their family members in case of disaster, not to go to risky areas and to stay in safe places as far as possible.
Stating that the life and safety of employees is paramount than the institutional performance, the association has also urged the financial institutions concerned to adopt necessary safety precautions in risky situations.
The NRNA has urged the people living on the banks of the rivers and in the risky areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan to stay on high alertness and stay safe.
The NRNA has urged the government and bodies to intensify search and rescue works in flood-affected areas, provide immediate relief and necessary humanitarian assistance to the affected people and mobilize all state mechanisms to mitigate the possible further risks. It has also appealed to the general public not to travel unnecessarily in the vulnerable and affected areas and to help in rescue and relief works.
A meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has decided on rescue, relief and
effective summons.
