Kathmandu. Lions International Multiple 325 has decided to collaborate with the government for the rescue, relief and reconstruction of the people affected by the recent devastating floods. Under the leadership of Multiple Council Chairman Lion Keshar Bahadur Bhandari, it has been decided to immediately mobilize relief in the flood-affected areas as well as assist in long-term reconstruction. Lions International Multiple 325 has already donated Rs 10,11,11,111 to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. Apart from this, it has been decided to collect at least Rs 10 million more relief money from 15 districts under the Multiple District and mobilize it in the flood-affected areas.
Relief collection of 1 crore from 15 districts

Under the relief drive, a target has been set to collect a minimum of Rs 6,66,666 from each district. Accordingly, various districts have already started collecting funds. District 325F has already deposited Rs 6,66,666 in the accounts of multiple districts. The Lions plan to mobilize at least Rs 1 crore directly in the affected areas after collecting funds from all the 15 districts.
Relief and Temporary Housing Assistance
The Lions have been coordinating with the local agencies to carry out immediate relief works including food distribution, rescue, tarpaulin and clothing management in the affected areas. Similarly, an assistance of USD 2 lakh has been approved for relief and reconstruction, according to the organization. President Bhandari said that the government is ready to cooperate in the construction and reconstruction of schools, health posts and other necessary infrastructures in the flood-affected areas if the government determines the area on the basis of needs and priorities.
Lions have been in humanitarian service for 55 years
Established in 1917, Lions International has been working in the fields of health, education, disaster management, environmental protection and social services around the world. In Nepal, Lions has been conducting various social and humanitarian campaigns for the last 55 years. The organization claims that Lions have contributed in the field of blindness prevention, health care expansion and disaster management in Nepal. Lions has contributed to the development of equipment in various eye hospitals, cooperation in the measles-rubella vaccination campaign of about 10 million children, distribution of oxygen, PPE and masks during the Corona epidemic, and operation of isolation centers.
Similarly, 18 schools were reconstructed at a cost of about Rs 450 million after the establishment of a modern blood bank and the earthquake of 2015. It is said that the reconstruction work of the school is also going on after the Jajarkot earthquake. The Government of Nepal has also honored the Lions in recognition of their contribution to the eradication of blindness.
Commitment to cooperate with the government in reconstruction
The Lions have said that they will make the cooperation with the government more effective in the areas of health, education and environment protection along with disaster management in the coming days. President Bhandari has pledged to coordinate with the government during the disaster to provide relief to the affected people and also to provide continuous support in the reconstruction as per the need. The relief campaign of the Lions will not be limited to immediate rescue and relief but will also focus on the necessary reconstruction to bring the lives of the affected people back to normal.
