Kathmandu. So far, 1,355 bodies have been recovered in the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers of Rasuwa. 4,996,000 people are still out of contact. The search for the bankers is still going on.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has intensified search, rescue and relief operations in the flooded areas.
According to the NRA, out of 1,355 dead bodies recovered so far, only 98 have been identified and handed over to their families.
Bodies swept away by the floods have been found in eight different districts. According to the report, 222 dead bodies were found in Nawalparasi East, 221 in Nawalparasi West, 197 in Nuwakot, 163 in Chitwan, 169 in Rasuwa, 75 in Gorkha, 70 in Dhading and 38 in Tanahun.
Of them, 2,340 are from Nuwakot, 1,967 from Rasuwa, 589 foreign nationals and around 100 security personnel and staff.
So far, 13,396 people have been rescued from the affected areas.
