Kathmandu. The State Bank of India (SBI) in Nagpur has been robbed of Rs 4 lakh by sprinkling chilli powder. An accused has been arrested in connection with the robbery of Rs 4 lakh at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Nagpur’s Sakkardara area in Maharashtra.
Police arrested the accused within 30 minutes of the incident and recovered the looted money.
According to the preliminary information, the accused entered the bank and sprinkled chilli powder on the employees. It is said that the accused escaped with around Rs 4 lakh from the cash counter after the employees were uncomfortable for some time due to the chilli powder.
After the incident, the Nagpur police immediately started the investigation. On the basis of the study of CCTV footage installed in the bank and surrounding areas, the police have been able to identify and arrest the accused.
According to the police, all the stolen money has been recovered from the accused. The process of producing the arrested accused before a judicial magistrate has been initiated.
A police official said that since the incident is serious, the identity of the accused, the motive behind the robbery and the involvement of other people are also being investigated.
Police said they are investigating whether the accused committed the crime alone or if he had other accomplices.
