Kathmandu. Trupti Rana, who works as an officer at Kumari Bank, has filed a writ petition against Kumari Bank’s central office, board of directors and Chief Executive Officer Ram Chandra Khanal. A joint bench of Justices Nripa Dhwaj Niraula and Shanti Singh Thapa was scheduled to appear before the bench on September 30.
Rana had filed an extradition petition against the bank’s decision. Earlier, on September 5, a joint bench of Justices Abdul Aziz Muslim and Nripa Dhwaj Niraula was scheduled to appear before the case.
What is the case?
Kumari Bank had filed a police complaint against Rana for investigation, claiming to be involved in hundi. The police arrested Rana and investigated the matter. However, the Kathmandu District Court acquitted Rana after finding no evidence to prove that he had done hundi.
However, even after the acquittal, the bank again took action against Nirirana for working against the increment. After getting the acquittal, Rana had filed a writ petition on August 19, 2083 naming the Board of Directors and the CEO of the bank, Ram Chandra Khanal, as defendants, demanding the cancellation of the action.
The preliminary hearing of the case was scheduled for August 22, 2008 in the bench of Justice Kumar Regmi, but the case was ‘not maintainable’. After this, the case was ‘adjourned’ by the petitioner’s lawyer after the bench of Justice Nripa Dhwaj Niraula was scheduled for August 22. On August 22, a bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla had issued a show cause order hearing the petition and ordered not to implement the decision for the time being.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order not to implement the action taken against Kumari Bank officer Trupti Rana for the time being. The apex court had issued the order while hearing a petition filed by Rana against the bank. A single bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla had issued such an interim order in the name of the bank.
