Bhotekoshi floods: 1,457 bodies found, bankers still missing, search operation still underway

Kathmandu. As many as 1,457 bodies have been recovered till 5 am on Monday due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa.

A total of 1,455 dead bodies were recovered in 1,455 people including 236 in Rasuwa, 205 in Nuwakot, 73 in Dhading, 369 in Chitwan, 80 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi West.

Also, 2 people died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu. Employees of banks and financial institutions are still out of contact and search for them is ongoing.

So far, 1,334 bodies have been preserved (preserved under the soil) after completing the necessary procedures for the identification of the bodies. A total of 3,413 DNA samples, including 1,336 of the deceased and 2,077 of the relatives, have been collected for the identification of the bodies. The details of 1,430 unidentified bodies have also been uploaded on the website of Nepal Police.

So far, 7,975 police personnel have been mobilized for rescue, search, relief distribution, dead body management and other works in the flood-affected areas. So far, the search for 4,718 missing people is underway. Similarly, 1,226 people have been kept in holding centers in different districts.
