Strike prohibited in 25 essential services including banking, insurance

Kathmandu. The government has banned strikes in 25 essential services including banking and insurance.

According to a notice published in the Nepal Gazette by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the strike has been prohibited in 25 essential services by exercising the powers given by Clause 3 (1) of the Essential Services Operation Act, 2014.

25 essential services that the government has prohibited to strike

1. Postal, telegraph or telephone service

2. Transportation services involving the transportation of passengers or goods by water, land or air

3. Services relating to the maintenance, operation or maintenance of an airport or aircraft

4. Cargo at the airport, railway station or government warehouse

Services related to transportation or storage, retrieval or storage

5. Print or Government Printing Services

6. Any service of the Government of Nepal in connection with the production, storage and distribution of arms, ammunition or any other military equipment

8. Services related to internal security

9. Operation and distribution of drinking water

10. Tourist accommodation, motels, hotels, restaurants and resort services

11. Services related to import, transportation, storage and distribution of petroleum products (including LP gas)

12. Services related to the operation of hospitals and health centers (services such as ambulances)

13. Drug manufacturing and sales and distribution services

14. Services related to waste collection, transportation, processing, disposal, site construction, infrastructure construction and collection site and

management

15. Banking Services

18. Services related to the import, transportation, storage and distribution of daily consumables (foodgrains, pulses, rice, salt, oil)
